First Baptist Meridian is committed to serving Christ through missions.

In the same way that Jesus was a man for others, our church is a church for others.  We emphasize what takes place beyond the walls of our church because we believe that is where God wants us to do His work.  Some of our opportunites are local, while others are international.  Some are as simple as working and helping children, others are more complex, like mapping a strategy for touching the lives of people in a foreign country.  Whether meeting physical, humanitarian, or logistical needs, our main goal is to meet people's spiritual needs by being the presence of Christ across the street and around the world.

Locally

We are involved in the Meridian Boys & Girls Club on a weekly basis in small group leadership roles.  Wesley House is a place we touch the lives of indigent, needy people through the Fishes & Loaves program.  We are actively involved in many community organizations from time to time such as home builds for Habitat for Humanity, volunteering at L.O.V.E.'s Kitchen, supporting the Center for Pregnancy Choices, and hosting World Changers crews.  Each year, we're involved in Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  We've also sponsored Back Yard Bible Clubs around our community.  Our Matthew 25 ministry is another ministry that provides meals for shut-ins and grieving families of our congregation.

Statewide

We have been part of missionary activities in Jackson, the Delta, and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  Most recently, we built a house for a family devasted by Katrina in Pearlington, MS.  More than 30 volunteers from our church gave their time and effort to erecting the house from the foundation up!  In previous years, we have also restored other homes on the coast.

Worldwide

For several years, we have had an ongoing relationship with people on the island of Trinidad in the Southern Caribbean.  People there are Hindu, for the most part.  In Trinidad, we have been part of building projects, sports camps, Vacation Bible Schools, revival services, Bible studies, and home church meetings.  We have also sent mission teams and individuals to India, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic.
